1. Why does PCB Droid ask for access to my photoes and files?

We need these permissions in order to save, load, import and export your projects.

2. Why does PCB Droid ask for access to the internet and to my device ID?

Many of PCB Droid’s features works only with internet access, such as gerber export and cloud storage. The device IDs are used when you have multiple active devices, so we can keep them all synced.

3. Why do you ask for my e-mail address?

Your e-mail address serves multiple purposes. It identifies your account, so you can access your projects and custom macros from anywhere thanks to PCB Droid’s cloud service. Moreover, we’ll send any security notifications and exported files to your e-mail address.

4. Can I use the app offline?

Yes, but not to its full potential. You can use the editor and after you connect to the internet again, PCB Droid will sync your projects and libraries. What you cannot do is downloading new libraries, purchasing ad removal, subscribing, exporting to gerber and in some cases exporting to PDF (see below).

5. Why do I have to be connected to the internet in order to use gerber export?

Gerber export requires great computing capacity, that most mobile devices do not have. To circumvent this problem, the export is done on our server, but PCB Droid cannot send the file to be exported to the server without access to the internet.

7. I cannot log in. What can be the problem?

Make sure that you entered the same e-mail address you used when creating the PCB Droid account. If you’re trying to log in with your Google account, but originally registered address wasn’t the same you won’t be able to log in.
If the email address is the same, then please check that you entered the password correctly. A working Caps Lock or a turned off NUM Lock may cause problems.
If none of these works, try resetting your password.

8. I forgot my password. What can I do now?

If you have forgotten your password then please tap on the “Forgot password?” on the right side of the login screen. On the screen that appears, enter the email you registered and we’ll send a new password to that email address.

9. I do not understand the Editor. What do these icons mean?

In the PCB Droid menu tap on „Tips” and it’ll bring up a whole tooltip screen. Alternatively, you can look it up on the „Tutorials” page on our website.

10. I need help using the app. Where can I get it?

Consult with the „Tutorials” page on our website or try searching for a fan-made tutorial on our Facebook page or on YouTube. If you cannot find what you wanted on either of these places feel free to contact our support team.

11. I found an annoying bug. How can I report it?

Simply write a detailed e-mail of the bug (where you encountered it, what were you doing when it happened, ect.) in English to our support team. They’ll try to help you and forward the bug to the IT team for fixing.

12. Why does PCB Droid have ads?

We need the ads to generate revenue, so we could keep our server working and the app updated. For a few dollars you can remove the ads forever while also supporting our efforts. The apps also disappear while you are a Pro or Premium subscriber.

13. How can I remove the ads?

For a few dollars you can remove the ads forever while also supporting our efforts. To do this, open the PCB Droid menu, then tap on „Remove ads” and purchase the ad removal. The apps also disappear while you are a Pro or Premium subscriber.

14. I only want to purchase the app once. Why do you ask for a subscription?

We need have to keep our server working and the app updated, but if we asked for a one-time payment, it had to be a huge sum, thus excluding many  people from the use of PCB Droid. Also, this way you only pay the period of time you really plan on using the app.

15. What kind of macros are available to download?

16. Will you add new component libraries?

Yes. We will release new libraries, but first we want to improve the stability and basic functions of PCB Droid. Until then, you can create your own custom macros. If you need help with this check our macro tutorial on our “Tutorials” page.

17. What payment method can I use to subscribe or purchase the ad removal?

Currently these transactions are handled by Google, who only accepts credit cards.
